Hello Fellow Good Sam Members:
Reba and I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Joyous Holiday Season.
As you travel to be with friends and family, please be safe and remind each other how
much they mean to you.
If by any chance you were not at the samboree in Wekiva RV Resort, we missed you and
hope you can be with us next fall. It was quite exiting to see so many people sharing fun
and laughter among themselves. Our theme was Under the Big Top, so there were plenty
of clowns, and circus acts all over the place. It was wonderful to see the chapters
participating in the rig decorations, and the parade. Even quite a few of the spectators
got into the fun. Many thanks to Liz Abrams for organizing the parade.
On Friday night our entertainment was provided by Citrus County Sams, followed by a
most moving memorial service by our chaplain, Sharon Bundy. November each year, we
pay our respects to all the loved ones that have passed in the last year. I moved this
service to Friday night so that staff would be able to attend.
This Samboree it gives me great pleasure to inform you that seven (7) chapters turned in
Chapter Books to be nominated for chapter of the year. The seven are Bay Area,
Dogwood Sams, Getaway Sams, Rolling Sams, Sassy Sams, Silver Sams II, and Trail
Blazing Sams. These chapters spend endless hours on preparing the books, and each
chapter did an outstanding job with their presentation. This year's chapter of the year is
Sassy Sams. Please remember, along with Chapter of the year, there comes many
responsibilities.
Our Winter Samboree will once again be in Dunnellon, Fl. Many of our Good Sam
members love the Old Style Florida setting, and some have opposed. The owners always
look forward to us being there and take care of any problems we may have within
minutes. Everyone is furnished water and electric. As long as the electric heaters are not
turned on, there will be no electric problem. This is our winter samboree, so you can
almost bet it will be cold. I have been ask to have a theme at our Winter Samboree, so the
theme will be WINTER WONDERLAND. Any decorations will be for chapter rig
participation, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place and individual rig participation 1st, 2nd, and 3rd
place.
After our 1st year of being State Director for Florida Good Sams, Reba and I would like to
thank everyone for your support. The many chapters, and individuals, vendors and
dealers that have made our first year a success. As you many know, elections will be in
2010 for State Director for the years of 2011 and 2012. Our plans are to seek another 2
years after 2010. We hope we will have your support for another two years.
As I close, I ask that you join with me to ask the Lord above to watch over us all and
protect our troops in harms way all over the world.
God's speed,
Bob Ward
Florida Good Sams Director
